  • Every 2 hours 41 minutes a civilian fire death occurred, totaling 3,275 deaths. 84% of these deaths occurred in a home fire.
  • Every 33 minutes a civilian fire injury occurred, totaling 15,775 injuries.
  • A structure fire was reported every 64 seconds, totaling $11.6 billion dollars in direct property loss.
  • U.S. Fire Departments responded to 31,644,500 calls, in which 1,298,000 were fires and 20,252,480 EMS calls. A staggering 64 firefighters died in the line of duty.

The Alabama Bucket Brigade is a proud partner of The National Center for Fire and Life Safety and its future interactive museum and program center, Heroes Activity Center, to be constructed in Calera, Alabama. This state of the art Center will be unlike anything Alabamians have seen before!

The National Center for Fire and Life Safety's (NCFLS) mission is to create a safer world through innovation and education for professionals and the public alike.

Its primary program will be a 40,000 sq.ft. interactive museum called Heroes Activity Center. It's focus will be to educate the public on all-hazards safety and prevention through the use of interactive exhibits, programs, and evaluation, with the primary objective of providing the knowledge necessary to statistically reduce the associated loss of life, property and resources in Alabama and nationally.
